“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same”
In the spirit of giving back and shining the MSD light on others, a select number of volunteers armed with groceries and clothes headed to the Untied Association for Cerebral Palsy on Mandela day. Our colleagues spent the day with the patients taking them for walks, reading stories to them and even assisting with the feeding during lunch. The Patients although a majority of them being bound to wheelchairs were all full of life and zest on the day and were really appreciative of the time spent with them. We would like to thank all those colleagues who donated towards the cause to ensure that the day was a success along with those who took the time out to go and volunteer on the day.
A Special thank you also goes to the Cape Town and Kwa-Zulu Natal team who volunteered their time packaging food parcels for the poor, Cooked food for the homeless and paid a visit to the old age homes in partnership with Pick N Pay where a total of 151 tons of nutritious food parcels were received and packed.
Not only did the food drive help raise awareness around the 14 million South Africans that go hungry every day, but also highlighted what FoodForward SA is doing to address this. Over the cold winter months, 250,000 people will benefit every day from the food that was collected.
